Yesterday (28/08) Akismet upgraded from 2.1.6 to 2.1.7. I noticed that because there was a red ballon on top of plugin page. So automatically I upgraded Akismet. What happened next? Well, since I don’t understand anything about plugin or php, I didn’t realize anything went wrong. Until I read this article. Ouch, Akismet blocked his email address and threated comments from him as spam.
Pak Sawali suggested Arul to contact Akismet through contact form. This is one way if your being blocked by Akismet. Another way was to tell your firends to manually de-spam your comment. I tried to do this several times but it wouldn’t work. Comments stayed as spam.
So I tried to contact Akismet team, too. There were two things I mentioned. First, how Akismet won’t de-spam comments, and second, if you noticed, link at the last paragraph has been redirected to ReviewMe Affiliate Program Launches.
This morning (29/08) there was a little red balloon again, telling that Akismet is ready for 2.1.8 version. I, once again, automatically upgraded it and went to spam area. This time it works fine. I guess Akismet is really getting older huh…

Ada beberapa komentar di blog saya juga tertangkap oleh Akismet padahal bukan spam, akhirnya pake fasilitas de-spam dan berhasil..
Iyah mas, sy lakukan 2 cara, seperti yang dikatakan pak sawali ke contact supportnya dan hub teman2 untuk men de-spam komentar2 saya
iyah untungnya respon dari pihak akismetnya cepat ngak sehari sudah bisa diloloskan dari penjara aksimet…

oyi.. at recent time i’ve found so many complain about this ‘Aki’.. IMO, there were happened because of a little bit of wrong config..
..If we’ve known how was ‘Aki’s works, then it wouldn’t throw a ‘friendly message’ as a spam.. I’ve de-spam several message on my weblog, somehow that wasn’t waste my time, and it’s fun.. He he..

saya juga pernah ngalamain ketika akismet dh di de-spam.. tp tetep nggak ilang juga ..
jadi sedih liat komen yg terlantar ntu …
terkadang ada comment yang baik dianggap spam..
biarpun menua, tapi dia selalu setia membantuku… hihihihi

Klo saya sih biasanya ngasi tau yg kasi komen suruh submit pake email yg lain, kemungkinan aja email dia udah diblacklist.

Akismet itu polisi jaman sekarang, yang seharusnya spam malah lolos, yang bukan spam malah dipenjara..
Saya pake comment filtering default-nya wordpress saja..
gue dah migrasi pake typepad antispam saja.

what might happen if you’re not upgrading?
since Akismet is plugin for spam protection, if you don’t upgrade, means spammers will be easier to spam your blog. and this war, between spammers and de-spammers, will alyways need upgrade from both side. one dark side of technology
i have once experienced that. pak sawali told me to contact akismet and everything was back alright
